Science and Academics

What are my goals?

I want to devote my work to helping make energy production more sustainable, affordable, and accessible for all people. My research is at the intersection of process development and materials science. I seek to understand ways to design deposition processes that will increase the speed and yield of production of energy technologies while maintaining their desired properties, as well as design new materials with better properties that improve performance. My main experience to date is in perovskite photovoltaics with some experience in extremely thin absorber solar cells and dye sensitized solar cells. I have a broad range of familiarity with vapor and solution based deposition methods for semiconductors.

I am also passionate about teaching and mentoring my fellow/future scientists, and doing my best to help participate in making our society better at taking care of all of us.

If you’d like to talk to me about science, feel free to message me on linkedin or twitter. Here, I post my non-scientific writing for fun.

About Me

Hi, I’m Austin. I am a scientist and engineer working to make the world a better place by making clean energy cheaper and more efficient. I love exercise, hiking, photography, and writing. This website is where I publish my nonscientific writing.
